The Future of Jobs report from the World Economic Forum predicts that AI will be responsible for the loss of tens of millions of jobs.
The Future of Jobs report from the World Economic Forum predicts that AI will be responsible for the loss of tens of millions of jobs.
The World Economic Forum is an international organization headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
It brings together individuals, political and business leaders to discuss significant issues that impact the global economy.
Funding is provided by its members, which include prominent personalities from business and politics.
The WEF claims to be impartial and not tied to any political, partisan, or national interests.
However, it may have considerable influence on political and economic policy decisions.
Its mission is to improve the state of the world.
The membership of the World Economic Forum represents a cross-section of the global elite and may not reflect the interests of the general public.
This event is private and inaccessible to anyone but the organizers.
Klaus Martin Schwab (85 years old) is the founder and chairman of the WEF.
It was founded in 1971 as the European Management Conference.
The report says that by 2026, 23% of all jobs around the world will change.
69 million new jobs being made and 83 million old jobs going away.
It shows that investing in the green shift and making people more aware of sustainability problems will lead to new job possibilities.
Roles like renewable energy experts and environmental protection workers will be in higher demand.
Population growth and the use of new tools will also lead to more jobs in agriculture and schooling.
People, companies, and governments will need to reskill.
They all need to learn new skills, as well as spend in education and ways to keep learning, to deal with the new economy.
The fastest-growing roles are driven by technology, digitalization and sustainability. AI and Machine Learning Specialists are the most popular.
Followed by Sustainability Specialists, Business Intelligence Analysts and Information Security Analysts. Renewable Energy Engineers and Solar Energy Installation and System Engineers are also fast-growing, as economies shift towards renewable energy.
The fastest-declining roles are clerical or secretarial roles, with Bank Tellers and Related Clerks, Postal Service Clerks, Cashiers and Ticket Clerks, and Data Entry Clerks.
The WEF predicts the skills that will be in the greatest demand from now until 2027.
This will be critical thinking, creative thinking, AI, big data, leadership, social impact, interest, and learning for the rest of your life.
6 out of 10 workers will need training before 2027, but only half have access to good training options.
44% of workers’ core skills will need to be changed due to technology changes.
There are concerns about the WEF and how it puts more emphasis on economic growth than on the average person. But the average person doesn’t care about economic growth.
Their focus on technologies like AI and automation makes the average person less powerful.
The WEF dislikes innovations like crypto and clean nuclear energy that may empower humans.
AI will destroy a lot of jobs in the future, but also offers a great opportunity for new and innovative job profiles.
Just keep on moving.
