Famous Fox Federation is arguably one of the most well-known projects in the Solana Ecosystem. Arguably, everyone on Solana has or will interact with Famous Foxes at some point with their platform being one of the most utilised courtesy of an incredibly wide array of useful tools. Having originally planned to launch on Ethereum, the team opted to switch to Solana due to the lower barrier to entry and speed of the technology. They have since become a prominent member of the Solana Community.
The project consists of several sub-collections as follows:
For the purposes of this write-up:
The most obvious holder benefit as free access to their extensive list of tools if you hold a Famous Fox, or 25% discounted access for TFF holders.
Missions function as a gamified staking mechanism for the project. They involve a 6 day lock-up period. Both Famous Foxes and Transdimensional Famous Foxes can participate in missions and receive the same rewards except for TFFs receiving experience four times slower than an FF. New missions are made available every Sunday and are announced a few days in advance in their Discord server.
Some missions are gated by the level of your Famous Fox, specific traits they have and whether or not you hold a certain collection’s NFT (e.g. their might be missions related to DeGods that is only available to Famous Fox and DeGod holders). Some missions require Dens to be completed. Dens themselves won’t get EXP but will increase the FAME you earn from that mission. If you don’t have the required traits to participate in a Mission, never fear for FoxyLend allows holders to borrow and lend Foxes for Missions.
The Missions page looks really cool. Individualised missions that tie into the lore so clearly a lot of thought goes into these.
Dens add a degree of complexity to the equation. Dens are separated by certain categories so some missions are gated to those categories. However, you can make your Den eligible for other category missions by adding Rooms to your Den to make them eligible for missions. Alternatively, individual Rooms can be burned to qualify for Missions as a once-off. Rooms can be bought from the Famous Foxes Market.
FFs earn 100 $FOXY per day whilst TFFs earn 25 $FOXY per day. Additional $FOXY can be earned from Chests earned through Missions.
$FOXY is primarily used in purchasing $FAME upgrades as well as raffles, auctions and future mints. $FOXY doesn’t have a formal LP, but their are community led ones on http://foxy.exchange.
$FAME functions as the EXP system to level up your Famous Foxes. Higher level Foxes receive cosmetic upgrades and are unlock higher tier missions. The current level cap sits at Level 40. $FAME can be earned through missions or purchased if you want to accelerate the levelling up.
Famous Foxes have also developed their own Chrome Browser Extension to view the Fame levels and available Missions for Foxes listed on MagicEden. $FAME can also be exchanged from one fox to another but with a 20% penalty.
Rewards include:

No, not the Twitter kind – this is much better. Raids are higher level missions that earn Rare Chests and better rewards. Raids requires collaboration with other holders and are typically limited to Epic/Rare traits. For example, a Raid will be announced based on a certain trait, only allowing Foxes with that trait to enter the Raid. There are limited spots as well so it is first come first serve. Up to 4 Foxes per wallet can be added to a raid.
This is a way to encourage, monitor and reward engagement. From raiding on Twitter to staking for certain durations, general activity and participation is rewarded!
The appearance of your Fox can be altered through trait upgrades available for purchase. Hand and Outfit upgrades require a minimum Level 40 Fox and 10K $FOXY. Backgrounds can be changed for 5000 $FOXY. It is important to note that trait upgrades do not increase the rarity of your Fox.
Marmalade is the Famous Foxes art commission marketplace, described as a Fiverr for web3 artists. Artists can present their work and if commissioned, payments are held in escrow and in USDC. Artists are also classified by style, making it easier for a prospective buyer to find the artist the suits their needs.
Easily one of the most well-known utilities. Almost any and all SPL based tokens can be found on the Marketplace whether it be Utility tokens or Whitelist tokens. Fox holders also have the benefit of being able to set buy orders on tokens.
Hold your own raffles with over 30 SPL tokens available as well as SOL itself! Raffle holders incur a 5% fee (2.5% for Fox Holders) which goes towards the FFF treasury. Fox holders also have the benefit of having their raffles show in the ‘Featured’ section.
The platform also supports restricting raffles to only holders of a given NFT/collection at a cost of 1 SOL so any project looking to hold raffles exclusively for their holders can utilise this function.
A classic double-or-nothing Coin Flip game which can be played with SOL and over 10 SPL tokens. Each flip incurs a 3% fee.
Exclusive platform for borrowing and lending of Foxes for others to complete Missions (not Raids).
Ever seen an NFT listed and you’d love to contact the owner to make an offer directly to them? Well you’re in luck! Ding is a direct-to-wallet messaging service. Create your message, Ding! will mint it as an NFT and send it to the desired wallet. It’s often a good idea to include a way to contact you outside of Ding! so you don’t need to keep going back and forth.
In an age where dodgy swap sites drain people’s wallets and/or it’s hard to trust strangers to do direct-to-wallet exchanges, FoxySwap represents the gold standard in safe peer-to-peer transactions. Such is their reputation that there is genuinely no excuse for anybody not to be using FoxySwap for peer-to-peer trades.
So you’ve just gone an swept a large number of NFTs that you now need to move from your burner wallet to another. FoxySend has you covered, facilitating bulk transactions in a very easy to use interface.
Essential tool for revoking any lingering permissions granted on your wallet. This is free for everybody to use.
Extremely useful tool for burning those pesky trash tokens, scam NFTs and claiming back rent from empty token accounts. You’d be amazed how much SOL you can earn back from utilising this tool.
Pretty self-explanatory what these are, however their usefulness has dropped off since Magic Eden improved their UI to have these functions. Prior to that, these would have been a huge time-saver.
Mint your own NFTs in this incredibly user-friendly system. You can literally take any picture and have it minted as an NFT!
These include Banner Builders, Wallpaper Makers and HD Fox downloads so you can flaunt your Foxes with pride!

I can only say good things about this team. The things they have built and the contributions they’ve made to the Solana Ecosystem is nothing short of extraordinary. They’ve been leaders in innovation and have done so in an incredibly fun and interactive way.
For a project that has contributed so much to the space, I do feel as though they are HUGELY under-represented on Social Media. Whilst the tools and systems they’ve built are very much at the forefront of the Solana Ecosystem, the NFT collection itself definitely seems to take a back seat compared to others that provide far less utility by comparison. I do wonder if a future art upgrade to a more PFP-able art style will make them a stronger brand to represent. That being said, it might be a shame to see the art deviate from what it is now and the grassroots of the project that it represents.
As an NFT Holder, the difficulty I grapple with for now is the current steep-ish entry (78 SOL/$1030 USD for a Famous Fox at time of writing) and the likelihood of getting a return on that through the Missions, as fun as they are. I would certainly want to discuss with Holders what sort of rewards they are getting to get a better idea. The complexity of the several collections (especially the Dens) does present a tricky system to navigate and I don’t know if I would have enough time to be engaging with the community to reap the maximum benefits.
Furthermore, their full suite of tools is fantastic but I don’t think I use them regularly enough to really capitalise on the discounts for holders.
I would love nothing more than to be a holder purely from the perspective of supporting such a great team and ‘for the culture’ but alas, it is liquidity that I am currently lacking. Perhaps one day.
I did make note of the fact that FF and TFFs earn the same rewards but less EXP for TFFs. From that, I wonder if it is a valid strategy is to have 1 x FF and then have TFFs around it to funnel the rewards from since TFFs have a lower entry but earn the same rewards to maximise the progress of the Famous Fox.
With the migration of DeGods and y00ts away from Solana, all eyes are on the biggest projects to see who will step in to take the throne as the number one project on Solana. Famous Foxes is certainly considered amongst the favourites but I have some reservations:
