About Dragon’s Crossing

Dragons Crossing is an adventure game built on the Arbitrum chain. This tokenised Role Playing Game (RPG) uses blockchain assets to bring an all new gaming experience.
The game combines storyline and lore into a game of strategy and chance.  Players will embark on their journey through the game and encounter opponents to challenge. These battles are turn based, using a dice similar to the classic D&D to determine outcomes. Battles will take into account attribute points as well as weapons and equipped armour.

Seasonal and Tournament play is available. Players may pay to enter and win prizes dependant on rankings when Seasons are completed. There will be no spl token, players will have the opportunity to earn $USDC in tournaments and find unique Skill Book NFT’s depending on your in-game performance.

Utility

Dragons Crossing is ready to play immediately, no waiting for devs to build. The game was playable on the day of mint. Players can jump right into it and experience the lore and gameplay in the World of Horizon. Think of each NFT representing it’s own “Save File” and progression through the game attached to it.

The game is an idle state strategy RPG with an element of chance involved when you roll the dice to determine outcomes. There are a limited amount of quests per day so players must choose wisely.

Heroes and Loot NFT’s

  • Genesis Heroes – The OG Heroes Minted
  • Rift Heroes – Can be Summoned by Genesis Heroes by using a Summoning Shard. Rift Heroes do not have the ability to find Summoning Shards in game
  • Summoning Shards – Found by playing or defeating monsters in Horizon.
  • Hero Skill Books– Class specific books can be learned by Heroes or transferred. Once used they are consumed.

In order to play you must hold a Hero NFT, this can either be minted or purchased from secondary here. When Heroes enter the World of Horizon they will have a limited number of actions (quests) that can be done each day. For reference each days quest will take around 20 mins to complete. Players must make strategic decisions as to what quests to take as these actions are a precious resource.

The Basics

When you first begin the tiles available are the following

  • Herbalist – You may heal here, Healing costs 1 quest for 33% or 2 quests for 100%.
  • Blacksmith – If you die you may exchange quests for some lesser quality items.
  • Wild Prairie – This is Zone 1 where the journey begins, choose this tile and start the adventures.
  • Adventuring Guild – Here you may allocate skill points, learn skills and level up. As well as summon rift heroes using summoning shards.
  • Camp – You may transfer summoning shards and skill books here from your inventory to your wallet to keep them safe. This will allow you to use them or trade them. Camping uses ALL remaining quests.
  • Shared Stash – For those with multiple Heroes you may share items here. Cost is 2 quests to put an item in and 2 quests to withdraw an item

As players progress through the game they will find items and weapons that can improve character stats and in turn improve character performance. Players will level up and be able to take on more difficult quests. Note more tiles are available as you play the game but make sure your character is levelled up enough to take on the new tasks. If your character dies you will lose all equipment carried bar one item.

Review

Blockchain gaming is still somewhat in it’s infancy stages where players are more so playing for financial gains. Current trends for gaming have leaned towards playing for a token to sell for profits and interest quickly fades when the financial rewards diminish.

Pros

Jumping into their server players at no stage were holders talking about how to be profitable. Interactions were entirely game related and how to strategise to beat high level monsters and what equipment and spells they found most useful.
This shows to me that the team has created a fun blockchain game that players will play for enjoyment purposes with financial gains being an added bonus.

Cons

It’s not all flowers though, we are in the space to become profitable and holders tend to become louder when they are doing so. Tournaments are a fun way for players to attempt to gain returns as well as a great way of fostering community engagement. But not all players can remain consistent enough to make gains.
The current mint was a slow mint and the window has been left open. With the current mint of 2800 Genesis Heroes and no free to play option that very much limits exposure to try and expand reach. In saying that recently introduced for a limited time is a money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with the product, the team will give you your money back. Of course there are some stipulations to this but this shows how confident the team are that people will be happy and enjoy the game. I feel this shows the team are proactive and noticed the need to push the exposure further. In turn this guarantee shows the team is not here to cash grab and take your money, this in fact gives the new player confidence to mint and enter the eco system with effectively minimal risk.

Final Thoughts

I believe Dragons Crossing is a fun, engaging game but will struggle to find market fit. Typically NFT holders are out for a quick flip or want passive income from doing as little as possible.
Their exposure to date has not been ideal. This is not from lack of trying. There are some amazing clips from DougHypeTV here and regular Twitter spaces. I do believe if market conditions were better this would be a hit but under current conditions not so much. This game is my introduction to what I feel to be one of the first “fun” games with blockchain technology. Whether the market agrees and adopts this is yet to be determined.
