New Rule Requires Hedge Funds to Disclose Short Positions

October 25th, 2023
New rules adopted by the Securities and Exchange Commission now require institutional money managers with large short positions to report their bets at the end of each month. The data will then be aggregated and published to market for the public to see. These new rules will apply to short positions equivalent to either 2.5% of a company's shares or an average of 10$ million in any given month. Short sellers themselves may remain anonymous but their positions must be disclosed.
